2010 SUMMER SWIM LESSONS

Lesson Format
The summer swim lesson program offers three, two-week sessions to choose from.  Classes are held daily, Monday through Friday during each session.  Each session includes ten, 30-minute lessons.  **NEW THIS SUMMER**...two new levels...Level A and Level B.  These new classes are for 4 & 5 year olds.  Children do not have to take these classes before they enroll in Level 1, although both classes are strongly recommended.  Review the schedule below for details and specific class times.

Saturday Morning Only Session:  Classes begin Saturday, June 19th and will be held once per week on Saturday mornings until July 24th.  Each class is 45-minutes in length.  Specific class schedule is as follows:  Levels 2 & 4 at 10am and Levels 1 & 3 at 11am.


OTHER AQUATIC CLASSES AND PROGRAMS

Parent & Child Aquatics Classes:  To be held during Session #2 and Session #3 at 5:15pm.  For children ages 6 months to 3 years.  Parent/caregiver must accompany child in water for each class.

Guard Start & Water Safety Aide:  To be held during Session #1 (June 14-25) from 9am to Noon each day.  Prerequisites:  Must have passed Level 5 and be at least 12 years old.  Passing this course enables students to serve as an aide for swim lessons and is excellent preparation for future lifeguard training.  Cost:  $55/student


Registration Information

Cost
For Parent & Child Classes and Levels A, B, 1-6:   Civic Center Members:  $25/student      Non-Members:  $40/student

**Required Minimum Age** (for Levels A, B, 1-6)
All students must be 4 years old by the start of the session(s) in which they are enrolled.  No exceptions!

Class Size
Maximum of 10; minimum of 4.  These are group lessons.  We will attempt to maintain an instructor to student ratio of 1:5.  Classes may be combined or canceled if minimum class size is not met.  You will be contacted if any changes are made.

Class Cancellation Policy
Due to inclement weather, classes may be canceled or moved to the Civic Center pool.  The decision to cancel or move classes will be made at least a half an hour before classes begin.  If the weather is questionable, call the Civic Center at 443-4174 before you set out.  Cancellation information will be available on the Parks and Recreation hotline at 443-4500 or on our website.  The first canceled class is not made up.  Any subsequent canceled classes will be made up as needed.


NOTE:  In order to maintain a conducive learning environment, parents and chaperons are welcome to watch classes inside the facility in the picnic area directly south of the bathhouse only.  All other viewing must be done outside the fences.  Thank you for your cooperation.


Refund Policy
Refunds will not be given after the first class session.  Special circumstances can be brought to the attention of the Swim Lesson Coordinator and reviewed.  Cash refunds will not be given, but rather a credit will be given which can be used for future lessons or other Parks and Recreation programs.

Instructors/Aides
Lesson instructors are water safety instructors and certified lifeguards.  Lesson aides have completed water safety aide training.
